New Owners in the Cloud Forest!

“Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit, and as vital to our lives as water and good bread. A civilization which destroys what little remains of the wild, the spare, the original, is cutting itself off from its origins and betraying the principle of civilization itself.”
― Edward Abbey, Desert Solitaire

(Mindo/Cinto/ Ecuador – October 2, 2016) – This living stage along Rio Cinto has new owners! Ray and Janice arrived on Wednesday, and their pets joined them one day later.  Like ducklings in water, they easily weaned into their new cloud-forest setting!

The new owners are just as concerned about our vanishing wilderness as the previous owners* were, and it is a relief to know that the property and its flora and fauna will stay intact. Rio Cinto Sancturio de Aves will surely blossom under Ray and Janice’s loving care.

*(Julie’s health has greatly improved, and she is working hard to regain her strength and reclaim her life. It’s been a very challenging year for both of them.)

Because several others are also searching for tracts of land to help preserve more of this beautiful area, there is a growing list of other properties for sale.

A neighbor invited me on a stunning and very unexpected trek… The huffing and puffing was worth the effort!

Six or seven Golden-headed Quetzals in one tree!

Several land owners invited me to come look, enjoy the trails, etc; on one trek, I probably said, “Thank you so much!” about twenty times! There is something so comforting – for me – to be totally immersed in the primal beauty of old-growth or even second-growth forests.

Looking to the left of that same tree… as far as one can see- unspoiled bosque!

The canopy shrouded this trail across the cima/top of this site, and Giant Antpittas, Toucan Barbets and Crested Guans provided soundtracks as we explored what was around the next bend.

I am a bit shocked that prices seem to be soaring, but if it were my property, I would probably not ‘give it away’ either. That’s good in a way, as people seem to treasure what they are buying – but it quickly makes some tracts unaffordable for those who wish to buy for the right reasons – to help preserve this vital and unique area.

I do not wish to help destroy what’s here via developments, but I will be happy to connect conservationalists with the owners who wish to sell their properties.   Check back soon for photos and details … starting next week I hope to be online more often.   I look forward to hearing from other branches of that same tree!

On the outskirts of Mindo, very special property owners are Looking for a Few Good Neighbors.

Leave a comment, and I will email you when back online. Otherwise, I will stick to my primary destiny, and that’s soaking in the experiences and beauty of each day, while possibly making someone else’s day a little brighter.

I hope that this post helped make your day brighter! LBB

  1. Reblogged this on Zeebra Designs & Destinations and commented:

The days find me goin’ round in circles as I shove around boxes and slowly unpack in a litte studio apartment in Mindo. At times I chuckle and think of Robert Cray’s song about a ‘room without a view, but the hot plate’s brand new…’

Actually, it suits me well as a place to store my things until the Magic Carpet’s been cleaned, Casa Loca’s fate is decided, etc etc. The light is very good, and it will be rewarding to resume painting.

Thanks for hanging with me; this post should help fill in the gaps of what Z’s been doing!

Thanks for your interest. This property now has new owners; there are several other properties for sale by owner, and I will be happy to connect you with them.
